Episode 4 - Kokkinisto (Beef and Tomato) & Politiki SaladIngredients

500gr diced beef

3 cloves of garlic

2 red onions

6tbsp olive oil

sunflower oil for deep drying

6 tomatoes

3 potatoes

½tsp sugar

Salt, pepper, paprika, oregano and nutmeg (if you like it) 


Heat the olive oil in a sauce pan and brown the beef. Remove the meet and add the garlic and onions after you slice them. When they get nice and soft add the beef back in the sauce pan.

Put the tomatoes in the blender and then pour them in the sauce pan. Add salt, pepper, paprika, nutmeg, oregano and stir.

Pour a cup of water and boil at a low temperature for 50-60 minutes. Make sure you’re checking if there’s enough water until the meet is well cooked and soft. Then the tomato sauce should be nice and thick.

Cut the potatoes into long chip shape. Heat the sunflower oil and fry them until they get a slight brown colour.


Politiki Salad

1 cabbage

2-3 carrots                 

1 celery stick

2 sweet red peppers ( either ready ones from the jar or roast the red pointy ones for 40’ )

2 cloves of garlic

1 lemon

Salt, balsamic vinegar, olive oil


Cut the cabbage in small pieces and grate the carrots. Slice the garlic and the celery stick then add them all in a bowl. Pour vinegar and salt and leave the vegetables to soak for 15-20 minutes.

Add the sweet peppers diced in the bowl. Pour in the lemon juice and olive oil and serve.


We added some feta cheese to our meal, there's always room for feta!
